I posted this under the 7.3 board but it was quickly sliding down the page with no responses, so I thought I would also post it here. I just traded my '01 F-250 with a V-10 for a "new to me" '02 F-350 with PSD. I had a Diablo Chip in my V-10 (which I pulled before trading in). I know I could re-flash it and use in my new truck, but I don't want to. I am looking at the edge attitude with Juice combo at Motorhaven(where I bought my chip before), as well as the diablo predator. I think I like the Edge product the most as it takes care of the gauges issue, however, I need to know a little about the install. Since the attitude monitors EGTs I am assuming it comes with the pyro sensor. I am also assuming for transmission temp it uses the existing sensor. I have read someone mounted their's on the pillar, but I am wondering how that looks and any other mounting applications would be appreciated. If someone can give me an idea of time to install, I'd appreciate that too. I am mechanically inclined and not tool challenged, so if it is pretty straight forward I wouldn't expect too much trouble. I am also considering getting the Stainless Hog Exhaust and the Diablo Power Valve. If I were to just get the 4" downtube instead of the full exhaust system how do I choke it down, and would that defeat the purpose of the larger downpipe? I am also considering the Magnaflow XL performance Diesel Turbo back tuner, Part #15928. Anyone care to share some insight on these exhaust systems, I would greatly appreciate. Last but not least... Diablo recommends that a transmission shop put the power valve in, but Motorhaven shows it as about a 2 hour install. What degree of difficulty is this? Let me know what you think.
I just bought a Edge w/ attititude for my 7.3 PSD. I was in the same boat as far as guages and what not. The thing I dont like about it is that it doesnt monitor engine temp or trans temp. And it doesnt alter you trans line pressure. Mine seems to slip if I stab the throttle. My Diablo tune never has done that. It does have some nice features like the back down %, Fuel delievery at low boost(no smoke). Defueling at WOT shifts.
I ended up stacking mine with my Diablo for added line pressure and only turn up the HP's on the Edge for that little extra. And that seemed to help. Hope this helps your decision.

Stacking with a Predator will work, but I can also program an SCT Xcalibrator that only modifies the transmission shifting, so you can run the Edge like normal, but have good shifting.
Eric,
I talked to Edge today about my transmisson slipping problem. They were little to no help at all. Basically they told me that I would have to buy their Evolution tuner to increase line pressure to stop the slipping. Nothing against you, but I dont think I should have to buy additional parts to make my kit work.
Apparently this Ford kit is nothing like the Duramax kit. It actually talks with the computer to increase line pressure. I asked the Tech what good the additional power was if your tranny couldnt handle it! Some local performance shops told me they can install a shift kit to cure the problem, but then again it feels like were band aiding the problem.
We've been saying for years that fueling boxes like the Edge don't program the transmission on Ford diesels. Some fueling boxes have great features like the switch on the fly and built in gauges but they fall short with trannies. Its all a matter of what is important to you.
Lots of information like this is on this site, if you wanted to do some homework on the Edge box before purchasing it. You can install a shift valve yourself in about 45 minutes. A tranny shop isn't needed if you can turn a wrench, its really not that hard. I can send the install instructions if you want.
I totally respect your guys opinion about these products.
I guess because the Duramax setup talks with the CAN-BUS systems and monitors the trans slippage, I figured the Ford PSD setup would be the same, but its not, nothing more than bolt on power.
I think I will go back to just my good ol reliable Diablo Predator and a good set of guages.
The Sonnax valve and the Diablosport valve accomplish the same thing. The Sonnax valve is steel and therefore heavier, and comes with different springs. The Diablosport valve is made of aluminum and is lighter, so it doesn't require the different spring.
Looking at an edge w attitude for my F250 PSD. Question is where is the best place to place the Attitude in-cab controller? Does anyone have an opinion on if the pillar mount bracket is a good place or on the dash somewhere. I did see one mount by velco on the dash by the right side of the steering wheel but it looked awkward as to visiblity and use of the push buttons.
I would get an Edge A-pillar mount. It attaches right on to the old a-pillar, and holds the guage perfectly. The are about $50. You can paint them to match your interior color. They are way better than the stock silver contrapion they sent with the kit.
