Performance Mods

I have been looking through the forum pages here for many years but I think this is the first time I ever posted anything. Thanks for all the great info.

My question is what do you guys think that the best mod is for the dollar? I just ordered a K+N cold air intake and have been thinking about ordering the Edge juice with attitude monitor. What do you think of this program? One of the reviews that I read said that this program unhooks the In-Dash guages. Is this true? What other programs do you believe are worth looking into?

Once again THANKS for all the info!!!

Well, it sounds like you must have one of the newer Powerstrokes, as you didn't mention whether you have a 7.3 Powerstroke or a 6.0L?
The Edge Juice apparently works well with the newer trucks, but most folks with the 7.3 Powerstrokes have gone to a multi position "chip"! They can be bought with generic performance programming, or custom programming.

You will find that most of us have dumped our K&N filters, and gone to open air intake filtration, as it gets far more air to the turbo!

As for Performance "mods", the biggest horsepower increase will be from aftermarket injectors...matched to a custom chip. Add to that, a larger air volume turbo, and you'll wonder if its the same truck!

Often though, the added HP makes trouble for the transmission....so then $$ are needed to get it in to shape to handle the new found power. There are several other smaller mods that help as well, but the above give the best performance gains.
Add to this a larger exhaust system, and its a given that a pyrometer is added to watch the exhaust gas temperatures!

Best of luck!

Dale
