pull to the right

I had just purchased a used F250/SD/CC/LB/Fx4/PSD and it wants to pull to the right sometimes..not all the time but much of the time. I had it alligned but it still does it.
I wonder if the power steering could cause this? At very low speed, ie. parking lot, the steering is stiff. What else could it be?

1.could be tires: uneven treadwear; tires inflated to different psi's; unbalanced tires (or tires not balanced with a high-speed balancer). They should've checked these things at the allignment.

2. could be steering linkage, joints, bushings, etc. But if it were any of these, you'd likely get the same pull-to-the-right all the time, not just sometimes.

That's where I'd start looking, anyhow...

Good luck with it and I hope it's nothing serious,
Daryl

could be the road also roads are slanted away from the middle to help shead water, try to find a road that you can drive down the middle of or the other side see if it pulls then. and that could explain the sometimes pulling becasue some roads slant more than others.

Good post above on the roads... my last truck was always pulling to the right and I thought for sure it was alignment... it wasn't, just the crowned roads. Probably unlikely, but make sure you don't have a stuck caliper on that side.

I think it also could be a sticking caliper. I had that happen to my 85 250 6.9L ... the right brake caliper was hanging up and eventually got so hot it caught fire .. I was running down the freeway at 70 mph ... the end result was a bent spindle burn up bearings .. melted caliper and scared rotor .. so check the caliper .. if in doubt change it ...

Got it. It was the tires. I had the ones on my 2000 F250 moved to the 2001 F250 and it fixed the problem. Thanks!
