i go out to my truck in the morning i push the pedal to the floor and start my 5.8l 351w(1984 250hd)i have to keep my foot on the pedal to warm it up, then after about 10min of idiling,,she dies , i have to keep my foot on her to keep her running and then that doesn't work to well either! what could be the problem ,where do i start looking??? please help guys!!! thanks mike!!!!
Next morning when the engine is cold ,go out and take the air cleaner assembly off.
Now while pulling on the linkage as if you're pushing the pedal sown see if the choke butterfly on top of the carb CLOSES leaving about a 1/8" space.
If not ,you could have linakges binding or in need of adjustment.
All of these things you mentioned are choke related.

thanks for the info i tried it and come to find out the choke linkage was stiff as a board got her loosened up and she works great !!!--thanks for the help--mike :-)
