switching carbs

just purchased a new 4v carb and intake and had some basic questions

i have an 83 with the stock 302 2v carb, changing the carb would require ditching the stock air cleaner assmebly, i know there is some sort of a sensor connnected to it as well as a few vaccum lines, what are these different sensors and lines and how do i cut them/plug them so it won't affect my new setup? any help would be appreciated!

thanks

most of those lines are for thermatic air control. this is something thats supposed to help the motor warm up in cold weather. i would just disconnect the ones you have to and plug them at the source of vacuum.

Get rid of all of them, Thats how we did it on my wifes 82 302, only vacuum left now is for heater controls (passenger side, goes into a coffee can type vac resorvoir) Brake booster, transmission (c-6) and vacuum advance, it makes it real nice to track any potential vacuum leaks, as well as cleans up under the hood.

perofrmance increase from the carb and intake is real and noticeable.

have fun

one looks like it is part of the EGR system, while the other is pretty much irrevelant anyone know?

There are going to be temperature controlled valves for the vacuum. On it for the EGR and the other one is for other emissions parts. Get a factory diagram and see what needs ported (above the throttle plates) and what need manifold.. That's the best way.

anyone know how to route the temperature vaccum sensor for the EGR correctly? with the new carb and manifold i have eliminated the sensor in the t-stat housing and the other sensor in the back of the manifold but have no clue how to re-route the sensor for the EGR for it to work
anyone do this before?
