Speeding

I think it is safe to say most of us speed, including me. What is the fastest you have gone in your truck/car and what was the worst speeding ticket you got. Have you been able to aviod a ticket by evading (not a high speed chase) from a cop.

I never go more than 5mph over the limit in the city or 10 MPH over on the interstate. In the city, I just try to stay with traffic, thats the easiest way avoid collisions.

Fastest is like 102 Mph in my 79...

Years ago when I had less control over my impulses, I flew to Tulsa and rented a car to drive up to Bartelsville. They gave me a Chebby Super Sport. On the way back, I looked down and saw that I was going 90 and I floored it to see what it would do. The speedo was a half circle with 120 on it and the needle disappeared. Just about then I topped a little rise and passed a parked state trooper. Since he was parked and I was doing 120+, he was out of my sight quickly. I turned off at the next exit, parked behind a Howard Johnson's and went inside where I waited for an hour. I left the cafe and drove (at the speed limit) to the airport - I had missed my plane. To this day, I don't know if he even chased me.

We have had a thread on this exact subject maybe last year. It can probably be found by doing a search.

Fastest for me was over 120mph in a 1992 E150.... That was a trip.... Never got a ticket, plenty of warnings but no tickets.

As a driver or a passenger?

As a passenger, the answer is easy- somewhere north of 300 kph in a Ferarri Daytona somewhere between Lausanne and Geneva. riding with a crazed Arab in his new toy. I wouldn't recommend it, although it was quite a rush at the time.

As a driver- somewhere over 140 in a 'Vette at a Chevy-sponsored competition driver's school. Couldn't tell you how much over- was concentrating too much at the time.

about 130 in my bmw, 150 in my moms mercedes and 110 or whatever they limited my 04 f150 at.

once i was flying down the freeway and i see the cop on the side run to the car, so i got off 2 exits later and hide in the only place that was open....donut shop. i think he figured he wouldnt get me and just asked the guys up ahead to look out for me. funny thing is i have only been given 1 speeding ticket and i really wasnt going the fastest i think the cops radar caught the movingvan next to me. i think it was like 50 in a 35.

my dad speeds a few times and then a few times when he knows the cop is going to pull him over he ducks into a side street.

Yes, this is a repeat topic...

FYI, I try to keep these types of threads to a minimum. More often then not, they result in reply after reply of someone chipping in their 2 cents but never actually having a conversation...it's like asking someone's age on this site, and having everyone reply....it never ends and it's something nobody looks through with great detail and the people don't have a discussion....so we sometimes close them to save bandwidth. We have a chat for this kind of stuff...

We just shoot for interaction between members, discussions...positive use of bandwidth...

*For those who don't know, bandwidth is the "space" FTE uses of the internet, which costs money, and we generally try to use the bandwidth to which benefits our members the most...make sense?

well the fastest i ever drove was in my 1979 ford f-100. 102mph on a back road.
in my ranger stupid speed governor 98mph
2002 superduty diesel stupid speed governor 94mph
ran from a cop once to avoid a speeding ticket= he never got me.
passed a state trooper once on a side road doing 85 in a 45. i pulled over up the road and waited for him. he asked me why i pulled over. i said cause i was driving a little over 65mph. he told me he was not running radar. he also told me that i should slow down a little on that road. so now i drive 70 -75 on that road. i have gotten numerous verbal warnings for street racing in town. warning for having neon lights. street raced a cop once even though i knew i would lose. just wanted to be different and prove i would not get a ticket. anyways i lost and did not get a ticket.
--i prefer to drive in town 40-65mph. limit is posted at 25 -35
--backroads prefer to drive 70+mph. limit is usually 35
--highway prefer to drive 75+mph. limits very.
