Removal of the heater core on a 1985 ford f-150 351 NO a/c...
do i remove it from glove box or under the hood. The case under the hood that the the 2 hoses go to doesnt seem to have any screws or bolts to take it off. Also do i need anything else from auto store when i put the core in (sealers, gaskets). Thanks
You have to remove the glove box, then unbolt the heater box from under the dash (3 nuts if I remember right). The heater box then comes free of the fire wall from the outside. Once you have the box out there is a plastic face that holds the heater core in the box. Remove the face and the heater core should slide out.
Wasnt too bad...take off the 2 hoses connected to the core...there are 3 bolts from under the dash...then 2 under the hood on the right side by the blower motor. then there are 11-12 little screws holding the plate to the heater case...take them off & it slides right out...
thanks for the help...
let me ask...if you dont change a damaged core could it damage anything else(besides the smell&fluid that come in the cab).

Yep.......light poles, trees, other cars you can't see when the windows all fog up......LOL
Sorry but I had to........I just did this myself on my 85. Mine was a b**ch though cause it had aftermarket air installed before I bought it. I hated tearing into it during the winter, but got tired of freezing to death or not being able to see. Other than that it probably wouldn't hurt anything other than you losing your coolant.
My $.02 worth....
