I think the problem is with the A/C automatic idle enhancer.
When the A/C kicks in, the idle should increase.
If it isn't there is something wrong in that electrical circuit.

The computer maintains a certain engine idle rpm. It uses the IAC (idle air control) valve mounted on the the throttle body, to do this. Basically, the butterfly valve in the throttle body is set for a certain amount of air to pass through. Any more or less air needed by the engine to maintain a certain rpm is controlled by the IAC which routes the needed air around the butterfly. Apparently your IAC can't compensate enough for the load of the ac when you turn it on. These things are famous for getting gummed up. I would take the throttle body off, and clean around the throttle butterfly, and take the IAC valve off, and clean it up. Then put it all back together and see if the problem goes away.

Hey rooster,
I was having the same problem with my truck. For a while there it was a mystery to me. I finally found something that seemed to remedy the problem. I was getting blowby in my air filter, and I was missing my breather, so oil was coming through my valve cover and kind of coating my air filter. when air would come through my air filter, it was coating my throttle body. get yourself a can of throttle body cleaner and follow the instructions. If your getting blow by, I would also klean the passages from my air intake into the throttle body. I hope it helps. good luck.
