Was wondering if all the SD trucks that have the diesel engine have a hesitation when the pedal is pressed for acceleration. I have a 04' f-350 cc srw longbed that has been doing this since I drove it off the lot. It's hard to explain but it's almost like there is 1-2 inches of dead space when I press the pedal and then it engages the throttle and tranny and off I go. Just wondering if this is normal or if I need to have it checked out. Thanks for the input. Sorry I can't explain it better.
not sure when ford updated the gas pedal from a cable to a computer, but the new trucks are all computer controlled throttle. the new 150's are the worst. they have a slight delay on take off. i don't like it !!!!!!!!
My '02 5.4L gasser's pedal is sticky at first. Some mornings I feel like I have to gently "break a seal" on the throttle to get it going and then when it does, it lunges like I'm a rabbit-start driver! Weird....Wish I knew how to fix it???
I drive an 04 F250 6.0 and my truck had the same condition after the 1st oilchange and upon later questioning the dealer said they had performed a computer flash to "update" it.
The dead-pedal made iot hard to accelerate in tight spots or back up without looking like an idiot.
ANyhoo, the next flash about 6 months later cured that problem.
I know not everyone who has this problem has a 6.0 but thats my .02.....
hey ds0250 try adjusting the throttle plate stop screw. i just fixed my bosses explorere that would stick. i just tightened the stop screw and problem solved.
