To run 33's
Hi all. I have a 90 f-150 4x4 with a 5.0, AOD, and 3.55 gears in 8.8 rear and 44IFS front (and 150K). I like running 33 BFGs(they help in deep snow) but my truck doesn't like to turn them at highway speeds. At 55 on a straight strech it will stay in O/D, otherwise it kicks up and down. I could swap gears but I've never set backlash before and it is too spendy to have the rip-off shops here in Alaska do it. Is it a real pain with these axles? I also have a rusty 81 f250 2x4 4-speed with an I6 and possible access to a rolled 85 f150 4x4 4-speed with an I6. I've never had problems turning bigger tires with a manual because you have more control over when it shifts. Would putting a manual in my truck be an option here or am I just dreaming? I have a good shop to work in but am on a tight budget. Any other ideas? How 'bout a new cam that helps the engine at lower arps? Any ideas would be helpfull. Thanks.
