Hey there fellow aero owners!

I own a 1993 Aerostar 4.0L electronic all-wheel drive, extended version

I had visited the forum recently trying to find someone who was having similiar problems with the aerostar.

Problem:

Within the last couple of weeks the van has started to really run terrible.
rough idling ... when 1st started ... but what really 'drove' me crazy was that we could not drive it over 80km [50 mph] ... as it would shake violently ... let off accelerator ... smooth running ... apply gas pedal ... shake.
AAAGGGHHHH!

Brought van to my mechanic ... he took it for drive ... left it for repair
Come to find out ... coil pak was faulty [to middle plugs not firing] thus two middle plugs in motor were not firing ... both plugs bad ... covered in oil
Replaced ALL plugs with Platinum [$10.00 each]

Seems to run alot better now [smoother idling] although still seems to shake abit over 80km ... when on highway ... any ideas??

When it was at garage ... he had checked u-joint [dropped drive-shaft]
no problem ... he was suprised that it was 'original' ... no grease nipple
all tires are new

I hope you replaced the plug wires too! I had a set of Borg Warner wires that failed in 10,000 miles on my 96 4wd. Replaced them a few weeks ago with motorcraft wires and things dramatically improved. My autolite plugs were still in good shape.
