I have an 04 f150 SCrew 4x4 Lariat it shifts hard in stop and go type driving.
20K on it. Anyone heard of or had the same thing? I had a 01 (untill someone parked a sidekick in the back seat at 80K running a red light) and it was a great truck shifted great worked hard.
yeah mine shifts hard too... i have an 04 scab 4x4 xlt. it shifts funny but when driving has great pull... i wonder how long tranny is going to hold up... but yea i have the same problem too..
Yup, im with you both.. I have 26k miles on my STX. I cant remember if ive always felt the hard shifting, or if its only at certain times, but i also agree it still has a strong pull regardless of the odd shifting. Im sure living right outside of DC doesnt help when its stop and go for 30 - 45 mins one way. Ive also noticed the clank and jolt when accelerating from stop that everyone is also talking about.. i guess ill have to look into that too. I DO have to say though, the positives outweigh the negatives by far.. and I LOVE MY TRUCK!!!!!
I've had my 4X4 FX4 SC for a week and a half now. Mine seems to shift a little on the hard side when I am in stop and go and the overdrive is still on. Kick the overdrive off and it smoothes out. Aren't you supposed to drive with the overdrive turned OFF if you are under 50 mph anyway?
I've got an 04 150 Lariat SCrew with 5.4 with 6500 miles. I noticed the hard shifting the week I got it. I ignored it as an anomoly. But it did it again...and again. I thought it was the transmission. After reading a lot of the posts on this board, I'm not so sure. There's a lot of posts on the driveshaft and clutchplates making noise. They talk about a "clunk" when it shifts. Mine seems to happen in stop and go traffic, if I decelerate, say coming up to a red light, and then the light changes to green while I am still braking, and I accelerate. As if the transmission was just about to downshift into 1st but changed it's mind and shifted hard into 2nd. As soon as I figure out how to duplicate it, I'll post that. I'm not taking it in until I can duplicate it. Anyone else got any tips on how they are trying to duplicate this?
yeah it's happening to me too. Just today in moderate stop and go, I accelerated, let my foot off the pedal to coast, and then when the car in front of me accelerated again and I punched it pretty hard, the engine revved up for a split second like there was no load on it, then bang she shifted into second I believe. I was able to somewhat duplicate this, but not nearly as hard as this one time. I mean man, it made the whole truck shudder really hard like a neutral drop or something. I know this can't be good!
