injectors bad?

I was wondering how do you tell if your injectors are bad.

i was told a black and scummy fuel filter and a dump in fuel is a good way to tell and maybe a coloration in exhaust. but im still a rookie here

somebody back me up.....

Why do you think you have a bad injector? SES light? Really rough idle/acceleration? Excessive oil consumption? Some things may be indicitave of a bad injector, but others are symptoms of bad injector o-rings. And, most of the people here who thought they had a bad injector really just had an electrical problem with either the valve cover gasket pass-thru or the wiring harness inside the valve cover. You need to be more specific about what your truck is doing so somebody can help you...

I also believe that I need injector attention. It will idle roughly sometimes, not predictable, will loose power sometimes, will not accelerate past 2000 rpms in 1 st and 2nd sometimes and puffs white smoke wheile struggling..

I believe tht my SES light is burned out...Need to know where it is located..does not i,,uminate prior to statrup...thought it was supposed to do so.
