I have a 2003 F250 7.3L with 40K miles. There appears to be oil collecting on top of the engine block between the heads. It eventually finds its way down the back of the motor. The areas around the oil fill tube and dipstick are completely dry.
I don't think this is the result of a spill. It just recently became apparent as quarter-sized oil spots on the garage floor. It is hard to inspect that area of the engine so I am hoping somebody has experience with this.
First, whatever it is, should be covered under warranty but will cost you $100.00.
These are oil and fuel leak possibilities:
1. Turbo pedestal leaking, upper or lower "O" rings. (common and high probability)
2. HPOP lines leaking. Snug lines. Possible "O" ring damage. (common and high probability)
3. There are some square head plugs on top of the heads, both sides. May need to tighten. (least likely cause)
4. Fuel regulator leaking. (highly probability if it's fuel)
