3M Undercoating

Can anyone tell me if the 3M undercoating can be applied to materials other than metal? I plan on using some on the frame rails, possibly the rear axle, but am wondering if it could also be used on some of the plastic pieces in the wheel well.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the 3m undercoating? How is it quality wise? And also, does it come out black, or another color?

Thanks

We sprayed it in an aluminium siding shed we made to house our generator. It helps keep the noise down some. It stuck real good to the alum & the wood but I don't know about on plastic. It's been a few years, but if I remember correctly, it sprays black, maybe a dark grey. It took us about 8 cans to do the 3 sides & roof on the 4x4x4 shed.
