another v-10 test drive
i would not worry about it go for the 05 v10 while you still can, jeff the sales man has a post giving the cut of date in mach for a 05 in the new buyer section. good luck
No brand new vehicle cable or electric throttle is going to jump up and roar "when flooring it". But if you lightly hold the brake, run the rpm up to 1500, feel the torque converter get tight (beginning of stall) ease off the brake and feed the throttle very firm you will run the 3valve V10 up over 5200rpm faster than you can back out of it.
But do the guy who might actually buy the demo truck a favor and wait until you buy one for yourself to crispy critter the rings OK....other wise do these power demos after the engine is broken in. That is unless you like adding a quart every 1000 miles
My never abused V10 has zero lag....and I never need to "Floor it"....more than enough power to smoke the tires on dry concrete at 3/4 throttle!
anyhow, it cant be any worse than the truck i have to fix about every two weeks and IL is going to start taxing new commercial trucks in July. it is either order soon or get an 06 and pay another ~$3k

Yes certain 5R110 trannys got assembled with a poor c clips and some others got a roll pin weakness or lack of proper assembly. Ford has (they say) traced to the specific run of trannys and is in the process of fixing the broken ones and notifing the other folks who might have an probelm transmission. The5R110 TroqueShift is NOT a new transmission and there are millions of the units in service with absolutly ZERO problems. 05 is simply the first year Ford mated them to gasoline motors.
If you are looking at moving up to a serious work truck that happens to be the best looking rig on the road then do your rersearch here and over at the diesel site and jump in and be a SuperDuty owner.
However unless you do the research, your statement "but i feel they still dont know exactly the problem" really has no basis for fact. This is a widely reported and known problem, as is all the weird 6.0L PSD problems, as is the Modular engine plug blow out problems.
Just so you know, almost all the 5R110 issues came to surface this winter with snow plow operators who bang forward then reverse a lot. My truck was delivered 3 Sept 2004 and has one of the affected transmissions. I am still going on a high speed 2800 mile trip out to Arizona abd back the end of this month and yes I am concerned but not loosing a second of sleep over it.
