'05 Egr

I read the past threads on this, but I am alittle confussed still. Is there an EGR plate on an '05 6.0? Can the plug just fall off or does the "plate" have to fall off too? I saw the plates were on again off again for a few years of the 6.0's.

2005 Egr

Pull the plug. Check the Tech Folder above if desired, or needed to find the EGR valve. Pull it. It is something that is designed into your trucks engine to meet EPA regulations, but in my mind, does more harm than good. Pull the plug and be done with it. I pulled the one on my 2005 PSD and have not had the CHECK ENGINE light come on. Recirculation of exhaust gasses into the intake is nothing but bad news.

I can see from the pic's that it will give more boost pressure by not going through the EGR. I just wasn't clear as if the new '05's had the throttle plate or not. Thanks

From what I understand I would love to pull the plug on the EGR vavle. I don't own a decoder or anything like that. How would my warranty hold up if the truck was taken in with the EGR disconnected? i would hate to foot the bill for engine problems over this!

I have a stupid question -- will the codes clear after it's plugged back in or will they need to be manually cleared? Thanks!

Hi hollywood43,

Welcome to the 6.0 forum and to FTE. Please take a moment to check out the Welcome sticky post at the top of the forum page as well as the other stickies there. Lots of links to great threads and other information. The search feature works great too

And for your viewing pleasure, check out the link to the Posting and You public service announcement:

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting.php

The light will go out after several driving cycles - five I think. If not, then it can be cleared by disconnecting the batteries.

OK, thanks for the help. I won't disconnect mine until I have a way of clearing the codes on my own.
