The last person's response sounds good. I had that problem too with my 1985 Ranger. I replaced the PCV and the cap on the valve cover. It is really cheap, only about $8.00, if I am remembering correctly.
Also, wonder if the hose that the PCV connects to is clean and clear of old oil clogs--I found that mine was dirty. Perhaps it could clog the new PCV easy enough.
