Unhappy Lightening the Fuel Tank

It looks like I am going to have to replace the fuel pump on my 1997 F150 Supercab 4x4 4.6L. I now have about 20+ gal. of fuel in it. Any suggestions on a way to get it out. I've tried the old "Carny Credit Card" without any luck. I can fish a wire down to the tank, but when I try a 3/8" hose it runs into a blockage about 18" down.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

It might just be easier to pull the bed off the truck that way you don't have to drop the tank. Just get a few friends over to help you lift the bed off the frame.

In a perfect world, pulling the bed wouldn't be a bad idea. But with an 8 year old truck, the chance of all six bolts coming out are 50-50 at best. Find yourself a $30 floor jack and a few peices of 2x4s and drop it, 20gals and all.
