Why does blinker stick
Sometimes when I am sitting with my left turn signal on the blinker will suddenly become stuck in the lit position. After a few seconds and a small puff of smoke from the hazard button area, it continues on with out a problem. Anybody have any ideas why?

Replace the multi-function switch. It is on the steering column and controls the turn signals, hi/low beam selector, flash to pass, wiper/washer, and emergency flashers. It is an integrated unit for all these functions, and has a history of problems with various strange faults exhibited.

What year is your Explorer? Someone else posted this exact same problem a couple of days ago (definitely within the past week. Seems like it was a 2000+ model year but do not remember exactly. There was a mention of some sort of recall on this that may go back a ways. I would do the search for you and provide the link but I have to go right now. Good Luck and hopefully Ford will do this for you.
