Unhappy tachometer problems

I have connected the tachometer as stated in the forum and it is not working for me. I attached the green wire to the white wire with the pink stripe and the tech does not respond??? Any help available? 1997 F-150 4.2 liter V6.

Thank you
Joshua

The tach has four wires coming out of it. This is just a basic tach with no frills. There is a ground-black, power-red, light-white, and the one that receives the rpm signal from the computer-green. On a 1997 F-150, success has been reported on this forum several times by connecting the green wire from the tach to a white wire with a pink stripe that is located behind the instrument panel cluster on the center connection. I also found this same information on the website that makes my tach. I have everything hooked up and spliced into the white/pink wire. The light on the tach works but when I start the engine, the needle on the tach does not work?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Joshua

I believe that it is the green wire coming out of the coil pack. That would be a pain to run the wire that far. And would probably need to insulate the wire if it is going into the engine bay.
