this is just freakin' wonderful! i'm getting mighty sick of my thermostat and housing. i spent a solid 2hrs today cleaning the housing and other gasket surfaces to make sure the new gasket would seal PERFECTLY...and somehow when i fired it up, it was raining anti-freeze from the thermostat housing. both gasket surfaces were sparkling clean and clear of all old gasket material and everything was done properly. this is the SECOND time this happened!!! hopefully the RTV Silicon i slopped all around the housing will seal it when i fire it up tomorrow night. if anyone has ANY advice i would greatly appreciate it, thanx in advance.
I would recommend using some RTV but it looks like you've got that covered. Make sure you got the right thermostat and that it's not hanging up anywhere. You might want to check and see if you stripped out the bolt holes and maybe to see if you have a small crack in the thermostat housing. I don't know, just a thought. Good luck
well, the thermostat is in right, same as the old one came out. the bolts and holes aren't missing any threads, i already checked that one. i didn't think about the cracked housing though. is it possible that i may have over-torqued the bolts both times and warped the housing? the gaskets look fine when i take them out though...i don't get it...well thanx
