I have a 63 stock steering setup, and would like to raise the column up maybe 2" to get the wheel away from the seat more.
I'm trying to form a plan of action on the truck. I think my cab is slightly sunk onto the frame, so that may be pushing the column down somewhat (steering seems to bind also). That will be fixed.
I would like to cut about 2" out of the dash mount, but I assume if I do that it would change the angle of the column and cause the the gear box to bind. So, it would seem, that would require either rotating the gear box on th frame to match, or some sort of U-joint.
Ididit column, toyota gear, power steering pump. Or move the sheet metal to a later frame. If you remove the floor and install sheetmetal from a 79 cab and put that on a 79 frame you would have a modern safer truck and more power train options.
