What kind of lubricant or grease can I use on my splines so as to not contaminate my tranny fluid. Or does anyone have another quick fix to the clunk I hear when I shift from drive to reverse and vice-versa. Does my 351 have that much torque on my C6 and NP208 transfer case???
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Apr-02 AT 07:29 PM (EST)]If you are absolutly sure the u-joints are tight then I dont know. It could be in the rear end also. So more than likely it will be a big job if its internal.
If you have the yoke and splines that go into the transfer case, then don't grease it because it is lubed internally by the transfer case lube. My 1980 has the splines that are external to the transfer case and it also has a grease fitting. This setup gets the grease. When you are checking for play, jack up the rear wheels and put the tranny in neutral to take any pressure off the driveline.
