gauges on 2000 expy

gauges on 2000 expy

When I turn my key on the gauges are fine ,but when I start it up the gauges go all the way to the right ,then they go back to where they are suppose to be. Any ideas??????/

On this vehicle, this is usually a symptom of a battery that's on it's way out. Voltage drops during the engine off period, causing the engine computer to lose info stored in it's memory. The guage needles will do a single full sweep as a result. Don't know if this was an intentional feature or not, but that's what it is. The engine computer eventually relearns the info, and no real harm done, but the next step is a no-start from a dead battery.

yeppers, the battery is goin on ya. Throw a new one in and your troubles will go away.

And you might want to change the battery ASAP, mine went from the gauges going full scale like yours to no start in 2 days. Naturally, right at the start of vacation. Timing is everything!

Replace my battery a week ago, gauges back to normal.
