Carbon buildup? (PICS)

I posted these pictures in another post. Maybe this is caused by a bad EGR? I'm gong take the plenum off and clean it.

Oh... Ok.

Just wondering, why not put a picture in the post if there is an image tool?
I always figure that puting a picture warning in the title was a nice thing to do also. hehe

Anyone know why I would have that major a build up of carbon?
I need to take the plenum off. Is there a trick to getting at the bolt under it?
