Turn signals will work for maybe 7-10 "tries" then will blow the fuse (no matter how large a fuse I use). Hazards and breaks work just fine. However, when I put my foot on the break while the hazards are on, the hazards no longer work. The back lights all go "off" until I take my foot off the break again.
So, I have tried a number of times to replace fuses, but they all blow. Since the same fuse powers the back-up-lights, I also loose these each time. Any thoughts? The truck is old and salty, so I could see why this would a be a shorting problem.

Thank you for those suggestions. I was afraid to have to look into the multi-function switch... getting the steering column off can be a pain. I do have a wiring harness as well. How do you know if it is the cause of the problem? I don't have a trailor...

Like Ken sez, read your manual. When I had to change the ignition switch on my 87 I simply followed the directions in my Haynes manual for removing the plastic trim around the steering column & changing the switch was a very simple 30 minute job.
When I had to change the multifunction/turn signal switch on my 95 Taurus i simply followed the directions in my Haynes manual for removing the plastic trim around the steering column & changing that switch was also a very simple 30 minute job.
BTW your hazard & turn signals use the same wiring & bulbs, so it does sound like you need to replace the multifunction switch.
