slow flueling

I have a 1997 Ford F-250 Heavy Duty with a 7.3 liter diesel. The fuel is extremely slow going into both of the gas tanks. It usually kicks back after only a few seconds of fueling and will never go in at even the slowest preset rate on the pump, so I have to hold it for the entire fueling process.

I'm sure that I have read somewhere that there is an aftermarket fix to this problem. If anyone out there knows of one, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Taking 15 minutes of more to fill up really slows down your traveling time.

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like your vent line is bent or clogged. Going from what I know on a bronco, as the tank fills the vent relieves the pressure, right thru the filler neck, you may see a small hole just below the filler hole, thats how my old bronco had it. Always slow to fill. Anyway wherever they vent it, I'd guess the vent line from the top of the tank needs checking. Good luck.

my 94 350 had the same issues, well actually I only had trouble in the rear tank. The front would fill fine, but the rear did exactly what you are describing, in that you would have to hold it the whole time slowly filling it, or else it would click off. I think this was a common issue, and maybe due to the filler neck design?

good luck- hope you find a fix...
