I am looking for a supercharger for my F-150 4.2 liter and I am going to have some engine mods done to support direct injection nitrous. Does anyone know where to get a supercharger for a 4.2?
A friend of mine has one and his truck smokes both wheels with 35" tires and makes a Mustang cobra look like a go cart, with the direct injection nitrous as well. The problem is that he had his custom made from some guy in Florida for $2500 and had a really hard time getting it installed correctly. He paid almost $3000 just to get the thing running correctly and I do not want to spend that kind of money just for install.

woh...makes a Mustange Cobra (12 second car stock) look like a go cart? On 35's? Man, that SC must be pushing like 300 hp's...of course you never told us what kind of truck he had...could there even be truth to this? Who knows? Seeing how a Cobra is also SC'd...it's hard to see how ANY truck on 35's would make it look like a go cart...that's like a 10 second truck on 35's man.
Now that that's taken care of, yes, there is a SC for your truck. Actually, a guy who goes by StreetCruiser on this site has a Turbo setup that is "in the works still" I believe. Apparently it's a pretty awesome setup, and I'm sure it's under 3 grand. But any Supercharger you buy is going to cost quite a bit. You should just buy some NOS or something. 100 shot should do the trick!
There are no real bolt on supercharger kits for our 4.2 engines as of now. There was a Vortech kit by need-for-speed, but its a POS, and Thomas Knight apparantly makes a Eaton M90 adapter intake to run that blower on our 4.2. There are a couple of turbocharger kits in development, tho. Turbochargers are the way to go for big power.
Yup, I find that extremely hard to believe. I've seen a lot of things...like I know some of you will remember the 11 second Powerstroke vid that was posted a while back. That was insanely fast. But still, that's just a bit faster than a Cobra...considering you know how to drive one.
jrather4.2liter,
I'm not trying to bust on you...I'm just a very skeptical person. People who make claims with no proof just kinda blow it for me ya know? Anyways, are you still wondering about the SC?
I am still corious about the SC and I will be going to play pool with him tonight and I will take some pics. How do I post the pictures on this forum? He has also put in new pistons and a cam. He also has an Acura that has a SC and nitrous with the interior completely fabricated with small TV's in place of the visors, a TV in the inside lid of his trunk and all carbon fiber with a sound system that would make anyone drewl. I will get some pics of that as well. The guy is a hop up junky
Hello all, my name is Logan and my friend Josua might not have been very clear. The car that is fast is an Acura (while not a cobra, it does compete despite a much higher weight (3700lbs)). The truck does not have nitrous, but is charged via a "POS" system. I tried attaching pics but it said that my post contained internet links and I have to remove them?? Do I have to pay or anything?? The pics are hosted. check them out @ (blah).picturetrail.(co ercial)/mtbikr
It is a V6 4.2 and I bought it new, lowest trim for $10300 with 6 miles on it!! I have about 8K into it. Hell of a value I must say! Let me know what you think?
because it says this::

do I have to be a paying member to post pics from a hosted website?
the system works fine and pulls the images, like one every other board, but then gives me that damm "remove internet links" crap. Any idea?
The truck in only lifted 3.5" via fabtech. The tires are MT with MT rims, 33s not 35s as Joshua stated earlier. The truck is running a Vortech at around 7psi max. No internal work has been done. I assume this truck would be in the 15s (no where close to 12s). The Acura's best time is 13.6 without nitrous which is a 100 shot direct port, should be good for low 13s high 12s. Dynos at 256fwhp without nitrous and dynoed at 344fwhp with the shot & charger.
Back to the truck. I have shaved all badges and the tailgate. Put running bars and tonneau cover on it. Rousch bumper, Sir Micheals roll pan, JL system with MB quart Q components, Hurst 5sp shifter, autometer gauges, grille, the rear gears have been change to a .411 I think, Rancho 9000 shocks, FPR & fuel pumps have been changed, with projector lights. Wow its been a while since I thought about the work I've done to the truck.
