The heater temperature control won't go all the way to hot. It goes to cold but the slider stops about halfway to hot. It dont seem that the cable or whatever is broke, like theres sumthin stuck in the flapper thing. Anybody got any ideas as to the cause.
The cable could be out of adjustment. Follow the cable to the blend-door actuator and unscrew the cable adjuster. See if the actuator has full-range of motion. If so, push control to full heat and set cable on the actuator to that position.
I just had to fix mine. I have an 85 F150.
There is some kind of clip that holds the
cable sleeve. My clip broke so the cable
would push everything. I just put a hose clamp
on the sleeve, then wrapped it where the
clip was. Not right but fast and functional.
You have to take out the the radio and you will
see it all. If you can find a way to get the
heater control unit out of the dash let me
know how!! (magic??)
My 85 does the same thing but it doesn't seem to affect my heat any. I've always thought it was out of adjustment but since it gave me heat I didn't worry about it to much.

Taking out that function control switch assembly is not one bit of fun! Here's how: remove the screws holding the center instrument panel. Remove the ***** from the radio, remove the ash tray and it's bracket. The function control is held by 4 screws, remove them. Now the thing should be loose enough to wiggle it up, down and out to get enough to work on it. There isn't much wiggle-room so be patient. I haven't had to do this for some time, but I think I also had to unplug the blower electrical harnass.
If you pull the radio, you should gain a little room to work through the radio hole.
On my F250, there are about eight screws that hold the top of the dash on. Take these screws off and you have good access to a lot of the heater system.
The heater core is on the pass side. There is a panel with about 6 or 8 screws on it. Pull this panel if you need to access the blend door. My vent door hinge broke about 6 months ago. It wasn't that hard to fix, just took a little patience.
