Hey all first post I just kinda stumbled by this site and it looks great. Anyways, im trying to replace the actuator in my stearing colomn as it has broke. Its the tilt colomn with automatic transmission. I just can't seem to get that little bugger in there. Does anyone have instructions on this? I cant find a good exploaded view of the stearing colomn or any instructions on replacing this part. I've thought about using the site www.alldata.com to try and get a good exploaded view on my stearing colomn but they want 40 bucks or so for a years worth of use for the site.
Youll have to remove the tilt wheel pivot pins in order to gain the nessecary angle to get the new actuator rod back in place . The pivot pins should be threaded , screw in some machine screws into the pins & use a pair of pliers to pull them out . Just be careful you dont angle the whole assembly too much otherwise the tension spring will become dislodged .
I just checked Alldata & their DIY Subscription is $24.95/Yr . Are you in Canada ?
I have had real good luck with Popular Mechanics CD's.
You pay a 1 time $20.00. In fact the last one I did was $15
and it included all the service updates and reports.
