engine problems
Hi everyone ...new just today...have a F150, 4X4, Std trans '97, with a 4.2L engine and only 57K miles...6 months ago , due to leaking water [but never an overheat suituuation ] I had to have the timing case cover gasket replaced ...expensive.. and now a bad engine noise...strongly suspect a spun bearing, or bad wrist pin or piston skirt....the question is WHY...never dogged the engine or beat it up...hey I still am on the original brakes...Any engine or model recalls here? or any reasons why this happened? Suggestions?? i.e. can I reasonably expect to put only a crank kit in this or must I go for a rebuilt longblock [considering Jasper] any comments or suggestions would be appreciated..thanks, Jack
