it took all these years but the rear brake line has finaly rusted through on me. The local part stores dont have anything on just the truck and need to know the tubing size and length, and the truck is currently sitting in a parking lot over night so its not exactly easy to check... would anyone possibly know what size tubing i need and just how long?
The lines are 3/16. As for the length I have no clue which line you are talking about because there are more than one rear brake lines. Buy one that is a little longer than the one on there and bend it by hand.
get 3-6ft ,1-3ft and a 18" piece, plus unions,to be sure.i think thats what i got when i replaced the line on my 95.the short piece is up by the valve, the bends on it are freaky and you will need to make them a little bigger than the old one,due to the driveshaft being right there.not sure about yours, but my 95 had a union in it right before the front tank, but i replaced the whole line.in back of the front tank is a pain in the butt to get to secure it,but wire ties work well.
3/16" should be right. I don't remember the lenghts, but in the past I had to get the longest piece the store had, and then a short piece maybe 12" and join them together for a Long wheel base truck.
MRStace is right. There's a union somewhere near the driver's door. If you're fortunate enough to get that off, the piece you have to bend is actually quite simple. I just replaced a friend's rear lines from junction block to rear the tee fitting on Memorial day of last year. It's not a tough job when the weather's nice.
