Due to all the recent snowstorms, my (wifes) 2004 Escape sat for almost two weeks without being run. When she finally ventured out the battery was dead. I charged it for a couple hours at 2 amps, started fine and drove it 15 miles or so. It started fine the next morning but the battery condition indicator eye is red.
Are these accurate and is the battery toast? I don't need to have her stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
Any recommended checks I can do on the battery? There are no idiot lights on.
Take into a local shop of your choice & have them load test the battery.
Pretty much the same thing happened with my 97 Ranger (bought brand new) and the original battery is still working fine today.
AL.
I called the dealer and they said they will test it this afternoon. It is under warranty so maybe I'll get a new one. The car sat for less than two weeks with nothing on - it should have started fine. Heck, it should be able to sit a month and still start IMO.
