new carrier?

I need to change the new front end gearing to 4.10 from the current 3.50 ,does this mean I need to change carriers also or will the 4.10 gear fit on the 3.50 carrier? If so then im gonna just have to get an Ox locker!

Yes, you need to change carriers when going from 3.50's to 4.10's.

I think around 373 is the cutoff, then you need a different carrier to go numerically higher(410) due to the thickness of the ring gear and the loss of a tooth on the pinion. Try a powertrax in the front if you dont really need to change the gear ratio and youre just looking to lock it up. Kinda noisy at times, but very easy to install.

There are some special "thick cut" 4.10 gears for a dana 44 that will fit the 3.73 and down carrier. Not all gear MFG's make the special gears though.

Precision Gear makes thick gears. I think Superior does too.

Also try www.reiderracing.com or www.richmondgear.com

Before you put down the coin on that Ox Locker, you might want to go up on the Offroad forum and read about what those guys are saying about it. Nobody seemed to have much good to say about the company that makes that diff....

If I had your money I would go with the ELocker. Built by the company that makes the legendary Detroit Locker. It goes from TrueTrac to spool at the flip of the switch. I have TrueTracs and would like a ELocker in the rear 9" but don't think it is offered as of yet. I need a limited slip to keep from having a one tire fryer on the street, but would like to lock the rear for off road duties.
