I burn a party disc for my own use on my computers windows media player and it plays in every cd player and computer I try it in, but it will not play in my 98 Expy, I used to burn them and they played fine in my previous car a 2000 ZX2, any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
When you purchase a music CD from the store, it comes with songs recorded in a .wav format. They are much bigger in size but compatible with every CD player.
When you burn them at home, by default they are in a .mp3 format. Much smaller in size but only compatible with CD players that support MP3.
Here's the odd part:
Many of the expensive, factory CD players don't support .mp3 while the cheap (or expensive) aftermarket ones do. You will often see the MP3 logo on the front of the player for those that are compatible.
To be sure that's the problem, browse your home made CD in Windows explorer. If there's only MP3's on the CD, you can be pretty sure that's it.
My wife's 02 expy does it sometimes because she puts a cd in that she put her own label on. In ford factory systems they say you should never put a cd that you put a label on (you know sticky sticker label that your printer prints on).
What I found out is windows media player does not properly close the cd after burning it, my old computer with w/ME worked fine as it came with jukebox and other burning software, and this new computer with w/XP only has the w/media player, I went and bought Roxio and tried, it worked GREAT, easy to use and burned 1 single copy of a cd I own(not borrowed) for my own use(not for resale).
Figures as XP does not include other programs I used like Imaging, XP version is awful, had to buy paperport 10 to use my scanner to its full potential.
i started using nero a while back and i still use it its the most cut to the bone get it complete cd burning program out there adaptec tech and alot of others are to expensive
