Ring and pinion gears

Hey guys. How hard is it to swap out a ring and pinion set? I have a second rear end from a different 58 F100. So I wouldn't even have to take my truck off the road. I have 3.89's I think. I'd like to put in 2.75's or something like that. The thing is I just got married in July and I don't have a lot of cash for my toys. The highway rpm's drive me crazy. i'd like to give it a try if it isn't a major undertaking.

There is a 3.25 posi set on ebay that should work. I am not associated with this item.
1967 Mustang Rear end carrier 3.25 locking 9 inch Item number: 4524018646 . You need to know if you have a 28 or 31 spline axle.

You should have 28 spline axles in your truck. I have several 9" center sections and am also from Illinois if you want to trade some gears.

i think the gears that are actually in the rear I was going to swap out are 4.11s. i'm not positive but when it was a complete truck it topped out at around 60 mph. I'd have to go look at the tag on the pumpkin. truckfarmer what part of Illinois. I'm in rockford just south of the IL/WI border. john
