another question for some guru's
Hi Ya'll I found a 79 FMX tranny possibly it may also be a C-4 Im not really sure since I aint real good tellin them apart it is in a 79 T-bird in a junkyard my question is this if it is a FMX would it work in a 82 F-100 and how hard would it be plus does anyone know where on the internet where I can find a place to tell them apaprt and specs on them that way I could kow if it is a C-4 or FMX seeing both were used in the Tbirds of that year plus is the FMX a goiod and dependable Tranny? If it is an FMX the bellhousing is part of the Tranny case.

Both trans will work fine for a light duty application (defined by type of use rather than HP applied)
I've run upwards of 400 hp through a C4 in my race car but that is power applied under very controlled circumstances.
As was mentioned, for a heavy duty application, a small case C6 would be a better choice, but is likely unnecessary for your F100...
