Lakewood Scatter Shield
Has anyone used a Lakewood scatter shield on their FE engine and was there any problems, such as starter mounting issues or centering problems? I have one in my possesion and was thinking of installing it
.
One issue in installing it in your truck. Getting it IN there. Here's my scenario: My trucks have all been automatic trucks converted to stick. In automatic trucks the crossmember UNDER the bellhousing(that goes between the rear radius arm mounts) comes out(bolted in). One truck I did have came with a stick and that crossmember was NOT removable(it was riveted solid). I never tried putting a blowproof in that truck, but with both of my other trucks I have had to remove that crossmember to get the bellhousing in there. The difference in overall size between the stocker and the blowproof is quite alot. The blowproof is really bulky and you need alot of room to get it on the motor.
Now, not saying that you might have no problems getting it up in position, but from my past experiences it will not go. Now, you could cut the rivets and remove crossmember and then use bolts(like the automatic trucks). Just more work, that's all.
Just a heads up.....
