Im having trouble with my 94 aerostar. It is a 4.0 A4WD that has about 110,000mi on it. Lately it has been ideling pretty rough and will hesitate when cold. Im currently only getting about 16mpg highway which is about 5 less than I normally do. I changed the plugs in an attempt to curb the problem but that didnt really help anything. Does any one have any suggestions for a novice who loves to work on his car? (after changing the plugs I feel like theres nothing I can't do on that car)
Thanks a lot
Also have you de-carboned the intake? It is a common problem with the 4.0L and I would recomend doing it every 25-30k mi and that would cause a bad idling problem.
Are you getting a Check Engine light?
Some other items that might be causing the poor gas millage is fuel filter, IAC going, and/or a clogged/worn out EGR valve.
