Grill Swapping Question
Will a 78 or 79 grill assembly fit a 77 f-150 4x4? It looks to me like it would, just not sure what all is involved. Will it bolt right on or does it need to be custom fitted? Thanks all in advance.

I'm pretty sure the grill shell will fit. Be aware that the 77 models have a two piece grill insert and the 78/79 has a one piece. That being said, you will not be able to use the 77 inserts, you will hae to use the inserts from the 78/79 models.

Yea, the 77 grill is 2 pieces and the 78-79 is one piece. The grill shell is one piece and the grill insert is one piece. I know that the grill insert for the 77 is 2 piece, but I am not familiar with the grill shell for the 77.

It bolts right in but you need the later headlight mounts. Basically you need almost everything forward of the radiator core support except for the hood latch and its mounting hardware. It is an easy swap if you have it all. I have a 78 grill on my 77 and I will have one on my 76 this weekend (I just lined up the parts truck in the driveway so I can start moving parts over!). I seem to remember that I did have to drill a hole on each side for the later headlight mounts but it was easy because most of the holes were there so I bolted it on and drilled the last one on each side or something like that. If you can wait until Monday I will have it done and can be sure unless somebody else pipes in with the details. Hawkrod
