big head

I installed a big head waste gate and it does not open. I dont really care except I spent all that money. What I do care about, is what is the max boost my engine should get up to? my gauge only goes to about 30 and the boost gets up to 29...is that bad?

the factory turbo is rated at 25 psi, however myself and many others often push 30 to 35 psi with no real problems that i have heard of. the motor it self is good to about 40 psi, over that you start blowing out head gaskets

Out of curiosity - how do you know that it's not opening?? I can peg my boost gauge with my stock wastegate line plugged (it still opens - just not as quickly) If you are planning on keeping your truck for a long time, try to keep the boost under 25 - anything over that is taking life from your turbo. How much is anyone's guess - but it's rated at 25 for a reason. And no - I don't practice what I preach, 'cause when the stock turbo goes, that will just be my excuse to the wife that I really NEED that H2E!!!
