Donor vehicle
I found a 78 F250 donor for my 65 250 camper special.I need the brake and p/s set up.Only problem is the donor is a standard and my truck is an automatic.Will I need the steering column from the donor to put in the power steering?I'm not in a rush to start this project and have time to find a more suitable donor if needed.What do yall think?

Joe, The PS gear is longer on top where the lines fit, so that makes the connecting joint be closer to the firewall. Makes this --x--- become like this ---x-- The total length of the two systems is the same but don't interchange.
I used a 76 donor because I have a FE engine, and that was the last year for it. I also chucked the 3 spd for the C6, and am glad I did.
The 78 may not be the best choice for you.

If the price is right I'd grab it. The standard transmission PS steering column is an item many here would be interested in since it is the right length and smooth at the top (no shift arm or indicator). I plan to use one of these in my current project along with a LoKar floor shifter. You could do the same. And since you seem to be keeping your F250 as an F250 I think many other parts off the 78 would be handy to have.
