Remove the Bed

How difficult it is to remove the bed from a 1984 f250 6.9l, with dual tanks?
Thanks

not bad. Just soak the carriage bolts from underneath (they should be galvanized if they are stock anyway), detach the filler necks, and disconnect the taillights. get a 6 pack of Bud and invite some friends over to help you pick it up!

Removing the bolts is the hardest part. Some you can heat up with torch it they do not come loose. I actually had to cut two of they on my 1983. Need four guys to do it without hurting the bed. two guys if is junk like mine that is getting scrapped.

Watch out for the fuel tank as it is close to some of those bolts. I removed one off of my 85 dually a year ago. It was a real bugger as 2 bolts didn't want to come off. I ended up using my dremel tool with cut off discs to remove the heads off of 2 of the bolts. If yours is a dually, be carefull removing the gas doors off of the fiberglass fenders as it is easy to break things.
