You can try JB. But keep a close eye on the oil. If it gives out and you lose the oil you will be replacing more than a pan. You could also go to a motorcycle shop. There is a two part epoxy that is used for a gas tank fix if you are on the road. I would think it would work on the oil pan. There are probably other epoxies out there too. Good luck with it.

So the oil pan is rusted on the side, but you didn't say if it was leaking. My '95 F150 had a rusty pan and I was sure it was ready to spring leaks as I could push in on the rusty scale and it would give. Had the pan changed and took the old pan. Well, it is as solid as can be. It wasn't near as bad as it seemed. Not to say yours isn't very badly rusted and ready to leak. But something to think about. Also my mechanic told me that normally they will just start to seep. There should not be a lot of pressure to cause it to one day blow out and spill its load, so I would think you could monitor it for seepage and when convenient and/or if necessary, change the pan.

Presumably an oil coating on the rusty area will help slow or stop the rust, but it would have to be re-coated a lot and then how do you tell if it actually springs a leak?
