e4od help please
ok my check engine light has been on for a long time but today i was messing around a little bit in 4 wheel drive came out of the woods went to back up and the trans was slipping bad would not back up get to house park it look in book go back out to mess with the truck and the check engine light is off stil wont back up very well slips bad but will move a little all forward gears are fine but when i let my foot off the gas it down shifts what does the manual lever shift postion sensor do by the way its a 96 f-150 with e4od never had trans problems before thanks josh

it sends a signal to the computer(PCM) to tell it what manual gear you have selected.
You might check the connector to the sensor(tr/MLP) and see if it has moisture in it. If it does you need to replace it and add some dielectric grease in the connector so it wont happen so easily again.
