engine just dies..kaput...
well twice this has happened.. i have an 81 f100 with a 351w and for some odd reson it dies...no warning just instant death to the motor..it starts right back up but what gives..it dont sputter or hesitate or any hting goin fine then just ....nothing

Take a good look at the wiring harnass from the distribter back to the brain box. It may have been altered. Someone may have went from a duraspark3 back to a duraspark 2 system....Been there. Went to bone yard for a complete wiring harness, corrected dieing out with coughing first.

My guess would be that if it starts right back up and runs well at all rpms that it could be a fuel problem. This could be caused by a sticky float valve or a problem with your fuel injection. If it dies when you step on the accelerator it might be fuel starvation. I'm assuming that timing and ignition have been checked out and eliminated as the problem. But those problems are rarely intermitant.

had the same problem with a 5.0L. after much searching and lots of headaches, found a ground wire from the battery to the harness that had an iffy connection. every time i tested wiring, it was ok till it literally broke in half. rewired and no problems.
