I just bought a 63 f100 shortbed last week and I love it already but something doesnt look right the horizontal body line from hood and cab dont line up with the bed and now that i really look at it it looks like the wrong bed. does this add up?

Welcome to the wacky world of the 61-63 F series truck beds.
Your bed is correct. It is the same bed used on the earlier 56-60 trucks. When Ford redesigned the truck in 1961, the smooth side beds were integrated with the cab (unitized; referred to here as "Uni's"). Good looking, but did not work well with farmers and haulers as the flex of the chassis with weight in the bed would cause the doors to stick shut/pop open. To satisfy the 'work truck' market who didn't want a stepside, Ford used the 'continuation' beds like yours until 1964 when they finally came out with a seperate bed that actually met the lines of the truck cab.
So, what looks wrong is actually right!
I wasn't aware ford did this on the shortbeds as well. My '66 f250 has the older style but is a long bed. Let me know if you ever find replacement parts for this style of bed. I 've been lookin' and lookin' and...
