i have a code 29 (insufficent vehicle sensor input)this code has been a problem for for years causing shift problem etc, nobody knows why.now for some background, when i get offroad in sand ,mud or have to accelerate out of a soft hole the column light will flash until i get on hard ground again. i have had a host of tranny trouble and i think its related to the code 29.i have an f350 supercab 7.3 e4od 1992.
now for my theory on the cause .obviously when i am on soft ground the rear axle has to create more torque to get going.i have the sterling 10.25 and its got 350k on it,and it has plenty slop in it.could the rearend be torsioning just enough for the ring gear to pull away from the VSS thus causing a momentary break of the circuit and send code 29?
did that several times checked every wire from every sensor for continuity back to the computer. i pulled the rearend down today i found the carrier bearing was turning under the bearing cap.the bearing had some external wear,i figure a few thousandths anyway.i dont know if its enough to verify my theory.
i am putting another 10.25 in tommorrow.do you know anything about setting pinion depth on a 10.25
No, sorry I don't. If you ask about it in a seperate question though, you'll likely get all the help you need from some of the other guys here who know how.
