7.3 Starter Removal

Im sure this question has been answered on here more than once but it wont let me search the threads... How so you get the starter off?? Theres one bolt I cant get (the top one) do you need to remove the smaller cylinder on top of the starter first? Im new at this .. sorry if its elementary.

From: New York
1)disconnect the batteries
2) disconnect POS cable from starter solenoid
3) there is also a small POS wire to the solenoid switch (mine was 7mm I think)
4) three bolts holding in the starter (Ithink the are 1/2" if memory serves me)

you need to get at all three. you can get your arm up there with like 9" of extensions and get the top bolt.
